The Fun Of Mountain Biking

t’s one of the hardest and fastest growing sports to ever hit the world and for good reason. Mountain bike riding is not only a ton of fun, but has a lot of positive effects when it comes to your health, body and mind. Here are just a few examples of why people everywhere are flocking to the sport in record numbers:

With it currently being Summer, this is arguably the best time to get out and catch some air on your bike. On the nice days, the trails become full of life and loved by mountain bikers and nature enthusiasts alike, who all share the same interest in the great outdoors. Here in Colorado we have hundreds of miles of single and double track trails and in different regions of the country and world, the terrain and geographical layout makes for a very unique setting in which to take on the challenges of fun, excitement, and exploration.

Mountains are some of the most beautiful creations on the face of the earth. They are full of untouched culture, people, history, ecology, and mystery. The feeling you get while riding through the forest, past the stunning views of the mountains, alongside streams and waterfalls, is something that can not be matched. The sound of the wind rushing through your helmet, the thrill of the speed of the descents, combined with the adrenaline that kicks in whenever you attempt to go off of a jump or over a large rock, is sure to get your heart rate up, get the adrenaline flowing, and cause you to forget about whatever stress life may have caused you lately.

Trails are also great for working off energy. They are extreme workouts that not only get the adrenaline going, but are great for the body, too. Taking on the challenges of mountain bike riding can tone your body which in turn will burn calories at a much faster rate. Have you ever seen some of the Pros? They are shredded MacGyvers of muscle.

As far as core training goes, mountain biking is one of the best ways to keep the body tight, strong, and toned. You can’t help but become more flexible when doing something like this, especially if you mix up the terrain you take on. There are also many great things you can do with body weight exercises like push ups, pull ups, and dips.

The biggest argument in favor of mountain biking is the fact that it is the best form of therapy. When you’re riding through the mountains, there is nothing like it in the world. You get your heart pumping, your kidneys working, your blood flowing, your body working up a sweat, and your mind working out any stress, worries, or anxiety you might be experiencing at the time. Mountain biking has an awesome ability to put your mind at ease when it comes to the problems you may encounter in life. Even if they are minor in nature, when you are on your bike you are focused on what is ahead of you, not the problems in your life.Add in the awesome people you meet along the way, the awesome places you visit, the awesome times you have when you’re not riding, and the awesome feeling you get when your riding is awesome, awesome, awesome.

So yeah, mountain biking is awesome. So awesome in fact, that in order to keep up with the growing demand, more people are needed in the industry. Companies are popping up left and right and the easiest and fastest way to get a job working as a mountain biker or as a mountain bike instructor, is to first start off as a beginner mountain biker. But where to begin?

Here’s a few things to take into consideration: Do you have a bike? If so, good. Just remember you’ll need a good off road one as opposed to a road bike. If you don’t currently have a bike, then go ahead and start taking your wallet out because bikes aren’t exactly cheap. If you’re just starting out, it’s wise to get one that’s durable but also fairly comfortable since you’ll be out and about for longer and longer periods of time. What about gear? You’ll want to know about this before you start to care about it. If you don’t know what you want, your best bet is to go with the professionals and hire the services of a local mountain bike shop which will help you find out what you need and why you need it.

The most crucial thing to take into account is the different types of riding. The type of style of riding depends on who you are and what you prefer, but here are a few examples: park riding, downhill riding, dirt jumping, enduro, cross country, free riding, and freeriding. If you have a bike, a bike shop, and a bike style, you’re almost ready to start. Now all you have left to do is to learn the basics of using a bike and going on a regular mountain bike ride under expert supervision.
